Draagon the Dragon

After a long flight and customs officers who repeatedly put Draagon the Dragon back and forth trough a X-Ray machine for about 15 minutes at the Trondheim airport, I finally got my new Dragon back to my home. For now he's spending his days in my living room, but I will find a place for him (yes, it is a he) somewhere in my garden when spring/summer arrives.

Draagon the Dragon

Hi weigh 15,2 kilos and is about the size of a big cat, and rather cute, right ;)

And by the way... Some of these old and small town houses up in the Peak is just fabulous.... Take a quick look at some of these marvelous houses and places...

Garden Dragons

This days I'm in Peak District National Park in Northern England, and I am using some of this days to visit gardens centers to get inspired and to by one or several dragons for my garden at home in Norway. Take a look at some of the dragons I have been looking at :)

Since my wall around the entrance of my house is starting to come along quite well, I really do think that some dragons behind rusted iron spikes, situated in small cells/rooms in the wall would look pretty cool and amazing....

Bats and mosquitos

Bat babies, kind of cute right!
Bats and mosquitoes....

For many years now I have been harassed by quite an amount of big and small mosquitoes and flies when I have the doors and windows at my house open in the summertime. But finally I think I have found the perfect solution.

I talked to the janitor of my workplace and he told me he lived very near the Nidelven river, and that river is quite big. But even though he lives near the river he doesn't have any problems with mosquitoes and flies in the summertime. And the reason is quite simple, there are huge amount of bats in the area.

They eat a lot of bugs...

So when I did a little checking on the net, I found that they eat from a few hundreds and up to several thousands of mosquitoes, flies and other small flying insects each night. In other words, they keep their area more or less clean from the little bloodsucking buggers we all hate.

How to get bats in your area. Well, it's quite simple actually. You just have to make bat houses/boxes (birdcage) and put them up around in your area. And then... If you get bats to live there they will make the summer nights pleasant instead of more or less bloody!!!

Ant that is because each bat is typically able to consume one third of its body weight in insects each night, and several hundred insects in a few hours. This means that a group of one thousand bats could eat four tons of insects each year. If bats were to become extinct, the insect population is calculated to reach an alarmingly high number

And they really are kind of small and vulnerable creatures

Another brick in the wall

Today I put 13 more stones in the wall witch is surrounding the pathway up to my house (At least in the future it will) I know that 13 don't sound much, but it does create a little work anyhow....

It WILL look much better :)

And here are some pictures of the Pathway and the surrounding's that I have made in the last year.

I finally had time to build a bit more on the house, and what is going to be the pathway in to the house was laid with 23 more cobblestones.

Stuebord
